A country information page has now been created for Timor-Leste. The Tratamentu Ain Kleuk Ne’ebe Usa Teknika Ponseti (Clubfoot Treatment Using Ponseti Technique) national programme for clubfoot has been in operation since 2008 supported by the Ministry of Health, ASSERT and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. They are now providing services through 8 Ponseti clubfoot clinics and are getting some good results! A symposium on the treatment of clubfoot using the Ponseti method, titled ‘Treatment of Congenital Clubfoot: the Ponseti method’ will be held at the University of Iowa on September 29 and 30 2011. The University of Iowa is where Dr Ponseti worked for many years, developing and using his technique to treat children with clubfoot. The course will be directed by Dr Jose Morcuende who worked closely with Dr Ponseti. More information on the training course and a course brochure can be found here or by going to the link: http://www.medicine.uiowa.edu/cme/webTracker/webtracker.html.
The Ponseti International Association will launch their International Clubfoot Week in conjunction with the symposium. International Clubfoot Week will become a yearly event to raise awareness about clubfoot around the world.
Apologies if you tried to access the training slides on the resources page in the last few days and were not able to – they are now back online.
